    • Jeev (The Creature) is a contemporary story based on the traditions and customs of the tribal folk Konkani community in Maharashtra State in India.
In the film, the elderly man of the Chaure family—the father of the protagonist—dies on the day of the Holi festival. According to the customs of this community, until the departed life returns to the Chaure household or clan on the same day of the Holi festival in the following year, no festivals are celebrated in the family or clan .

This returning life , the new Jeev (life), may take the form of a pet animal, bird, or even a human in the family or clan. Only when such a new life is born can the family or clan resume celebrating festivals .

The story revolves around the struggle between the “Dhavalya” (a community rival) and the relatives over how this new Jeev will return to the Chaure family.
The protagonist, Miru Chaure, along with his mother, wife, and son—makes every effort to bring this new life into their household by the next Holi festival. But their relatives and Dhavalya create obstacles in their path, even attempting to banish Miru’s family from the tribal community, forcing them to live in isolation in the forest.

Will the departed life that left Miru’s home on the day of Holi truly return as a new Jeev on the following year’s Holi? That is the central question of the film.
