- "Roots of Powers" is a sensory and spiritual immersion into the daily lives of two elders who keep alive the tradition of ancient healers: one is indigenous from the Guarani village Tekoa Yakã Porã, the other is a descendant of a midwife grandmother and herbalist mother. The protagonists guide us through their open-air "laboratories": the forest.
  
  Between gathering native plants — such as the powerful "baleeira" and the sacred "anambay" — and the meticulous preparation of teas and mixtures, they share stories of unlikely healings, from treating wounded animals to curing infertility. The documentary transcends the cataloging of herbs to reveal a philosophy in which medicine comes from the earth, but healing comes from faith, intentional love, and the belief of those who seek help. It is an intimate portrait of the wisdom of care and the generosity of serving as an instrument of greater forces.
