    • Synopsis
    • Dragoons dive into the labyrinth of images produced by Jair Bolsonaro, the far-right Brazilian politician who rose to power in 2018. Confined to a room on sleepless nights, the narrator navigates the digital pathways that shaped a political myth, from the emergence of his YouTube channel in 2010 to the end of his presidency in 2022. Livestreams, selfies, airport videos, and improvised speeches form an incessant flow, a kind of intimate, popular cinema forged in the aesthetics of amateurism and an unrelenting thirst for attention.

Dragoons is a film essay on the political power of images in the contemporary world. Through a subjective and restless gaze, the film revisits the birth of a unique visual language – the “Bolsonaro cinema” – which turns smartphones into podiums and followers into camera operators. By confronting this visual repertoire with the official imagery of the Brazilian state – its military rituals, presidential portraits, and symbols of power – the film reveals how a new image regime was installed, pixel by pixel, until it occupied the center of power.

Between the delirium of surveillance and the exhaustion of representation, Dragoons investigates how politics has turned into a continuous spectacle – and how, within it, it is no longer clear who is watching, who is filming, and who is in control.
