YAMAGATA INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL
Description
Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival (YIDFF) is one of the biggest Documentary Film Festivals in Asia, held every two years in odd-numbered years. The Festival not only presents a wide variety of films from around the world, but also provides a place for cultural exchange among people, to foster an international community open to future potential. In 2017, Yamagata City was admitted to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of Film, receiving recognition for YIDFF.
Objective
We are interested in documentary films with individual and personal point of view on what’s going on in the actual world. Films who help viewers to understand the real situation of the people in the world; what they feel, what they keep hoping. Direct style and independent experimental style sometimes also expected. For the International Competition, films over about 45 minutes. For the Asian New Currents, short films also accepted.
