AK Studios is a Los Angeles-based boutique production company championing bold, culturally rooted stories from South Asia. Founded by Awadhesh Kumar - former Global Head of Distribution at NFDC India - the studio combines creative vision with deep market intelligence, backing ambitious filmmakers and bringing their work to global audiences through top-tier festivals, international co-productions, and multi-platform distribution. The studio produces arthouse and genre films across languages.
Objective
AK Studios exists to find the most compelling voices from the South Asian subcontinent and give them the infrastructure to reach the world. We back filmmakers whose work is ambitious, culturally specific, and globally resonant - across Tamil Nadu, Bengal, Assam, Bhutan, and beyond - and we stay with each project from development through distribution. Our edge is the combination of creative conviction and market fluency: we know how to make bold films and we know how to sell them.
